5 AI Study Apps Smashing the TikTok Game
150M views with a single format. LET THAT SINK IN.
@answersai.com: 143,810,313 views, 27 crazy viral videos, 7% viral rate.
@answersai.ai: 9,748,229 views, 6 viral videos, 2% viral rate.
Their most viral video had 22M views—it’s a direct ad for their product.
They use a high-performing format: filming in the classroom and zooming over the shoulder of the person’s laptop in front.
“POV: The whole class is about to take a quiz, and this girl finishes before it even starts.”
Every high-performing video uses this format, each netting a few million views.
A winning strategy that’s still working today and can be emulated when the school year starts.
Some other great hooks:
- “Future engineers <3 <3”
- “Freshman in college right now”
- “This kid living in 2099”
- “Your professor has no idea”
JotBot made 33,675,000 views across their five accounts.
Series are key to nailing TikTok, and JotBot’s team understood this well. They went viral with a first video using the hook:
“I made a website called …”
They created a series that generated millions of views across their accounts.
It goes like this: “I made a website called IhaveanessaydueatmidnightthatIreallydontwanttodo.com.”
They pitch the app and have a perfect looping video where the end triggers the beginning.
Personally, one of the strongest hooks I’ve seen. Beautifully executed format with variations using different domains.
- @jotbot.official: 6,436,543 views
- @my.jotbot: 3,901,818 views
- @jotbotofficial: 1,011,559 views
- @jotbotai: 20,114,509 views
- @myjotbot.com: 2,211,386 views
Cramly (@cramly.ai: 194,286,697 views) has 98 viral videos (20% viral rate).
Most viewed video has 26M views. THIS IS INSANE.
Their top-performing format is “essay due tomorrow” / “doing an essay last minute,” which racked up 40M+ views.
They also had the “Secret website for students” hook, producing multiple high-performing videos.
And the “Stop using ChatGPT…” hook. Since most students are using ChatGPT, pitching a better alternative might attract part of their user base.
Most of their hooks create extreme urgency, and they worked great.
Once you have a winner like Cramly, replicate it into a series. Squeeze the juice out of a format or hook that’s proven to work with the algorithm.
That’s how you repeatedly win at the TikTok game.
They had their peak performance in 2023 but are worth studying.
They recently tried to scale with dedicated influencer accounts:
The next two apps made 20M views with one faceless format—that’s my type of growth hack. Check this out:
At a 5% viral rate and an 11% 10x outperforming rate, with their most viral video at 4M views, Kipper spun up consistent viral videos using the same faceless format.
They use a similar trick as AnswersAI: laptop recording in a classroom above the shoulder of the person next to them, mixed with a “better alternative to ChatGPT for students” hook.
Their last 250 videos follow this pattern, with 1 out of 10 outperforming. Easy to produce in bulk.
They totaled 20M views.
Plume is a French app, an AI-powered alternative to Google Word, and they’ve been surfing on the “Stop Using Word” hook to generate dozens of viral videos.
It’s faceless, and their format involves a double hook with words written on the document, pitching their app.
Aggressive “alternative to” seems to be a pattern working remarkably well.
I’m a big fan of this format and their execution.
They did 14M views and counting.
But it’s not pretty for everyone…
For every AI study tool performing well on TikTok, there are 10 more struggling that could be doing great.
A few of them:
It’s an extremely competitive space, with players building OpenAI wrappers. If you’re an AI wrapper builder, performing on TikTok can be the difference between making millions or failing hard.
